February 3, 1809 Illinois Territory is created by act of Congress, separating from Indian Territory.

March 3, 1809 Effective date for Illinois Territory.

May 10, 1816 Fort Armstrong established at Rock Island, Illinois

December 3, 1818 Illinois is admitted as a state.
